Morocco Assurance Maladie Obligatoire (AMO)

AMO is Morocco's mandatory health insurance program, launched in 2005 to extend contributory health coverage first to formal public and private sector employees, later to the self-employed from 2021, and eventually toward universal coverage. It is administered through two main bodies, the CNSS for private sector workers and the CNOPS for public sector employees, under the regulatory oversight of the National Health Insurance Agency, and by 2025 covered more than 32 million people, about 88 percent of Morocco's population; the former RAMED program for the poor was absorbed into a new AMO-Tadamon scheme in 2022.
