Mozambique's national program for HIV and sexually transmitted infection prevention, testing and treatment, operating under the Ministry of Health in Maputo as the country's lead technical body for the epidemic. The programme works alongside Mozambique's National AIDS Council and with international partners including the United States Agency for International Development and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to run prevention, diagnosis and treatment services, including for viral hepatitis, and it has helped develop national policy documents, training curricula and a harm reduction strategy addressing HIV risk among people who inject drugs and other key populations. As the coordinating body for the country's HIV surveillance and response, it sits at the center of Mozambique's effort to reach international HIV testing and treatment targets in a country carrying one of the world's larger HIV epidemics by absolute numbers of people living with the virus.
