Egypt National Immunization Program

Egypt's National Immunization Program is run by the country's Ministry of Health and Population, launched in 1984 and expanded over four decades to protect against more than a dozen vaccine-preventable diseases at no cost through government health units nationwide. The program has kept Egypt polio-free since 2006 and free of endemic measles and rubella transmission for multiple consecutive years, delivering tens of millions of vaccine doses annually through both routine immunization and school-based dosing, with a stated national coverage target of ninety-five percent needed to sustain herd immunity. Egypt's Ministry of Health describes the program's current strategic goal as maintaining an epidemic-free Egypt, extending its original scope to ten major diseases.
