Mozambique National Malaria Control Programme

Also Known As NMCP
Malaria Control Program

Mozambique's national body for coordinating the fight against malaria, which traces organized control efforts in the country back to the 1960s, when the southern region around Maputo intensified anti-malaria work partly to support regional elimination campaigns then underway in neighboring South Africa and Eswatini. The National Malaria Control Programme became a focus of the United States President's Malaria Initiative starting in fiscal year 2007, part of a wider PMI effort launched in 2005 to cut malaria deaths across fifteen high-burden African countries through insecticide-treated nets, indoor spraying, accurate diagnosis, artemisinin-based treatment and preventive therapy for pregnant women. In 2014 the programme and its partners began working explicitly toward the longer-term global vision of a malaria-free world, including through a Mozambican Alliance Towards the Elimination of Malaria formed with support from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the La Caixa Foundation.

Delivers Practice

Entity-backed identity for the program-kind enum value this public health program already carries, resolved to a health practice by an explicit value-to-entity map (phase 3 bucket conversion, docs\design_entity_backed_browse_buckets_20260928.md). The program-kind fact itself stays on the program unchanged.
