A Senegalese government nutrition program, known as the Nutrition Enhancement Program or PRN, implemented with World Bank support under the country's national nutrition coordinating body, the Cellule de Lutte contre la Malnutrition. The program aims to improve growth outcomes for children from birth to age 5 in poor urban and rural areas of Senegal while strengthening the institutional and organizational capacity needed to implement and evaluate nutrition interventions, operating through a trained network of community actors, community execution agencies and partner non-governmental organizations that deliver community nutrition services directly to households. Its strategy rests on two complementary approaches, integrating nutrition objectives into the work of multiple government ministries so that each evaluates and improves the nutritional effect of its own programs, and direct community-level nutrition promotion, and the program has operated in regions including Fatick, Kolda, Thies and Ziguinchor as part of Senegal's broader national nutrition strategy.
