An Indian government nutrition mission, formally the Prime Minister's Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nourishment, launched on March 8, 2018, and anchored in the Ministry of Women and Child Development, which brings together more than 26 government ministries and departments to place nutrition at the center of national development policy. Its stated targets included cutting stunting among children aged 0 to 6 from 38.4 percent to 25 percent by 2022, alongside reductions in wasting among children and anemia among women, children and adolescent girls, pursued through a mix of technology, cross-ministry coordination and a public behavior change campaign called Jan Andolan. The mission has been rolled out across all of India's 36 states and union territories, with core interventions spanning water, sanitation and hygiene, deworming, oral rehydration and zinc supplementation, food fortification and dietary diversification.
