The Comprehensive Rural Health Project (CRHP) is a nonprofit, non-governmental organization based in Ahmednagar District, Maharashtra, India, established in 1970 by Dr. Raj Arole and Dr. Mabelle Arole after the couple pursued advanced training at Johns Hopkins University on a Fulbright Scholarship. CRHP works directly with village communities to deliver primary health care and support broader development, using what has become known as the Jamkhed Model: village health workers who serve as community change agents, a mobile health team that extends services to remote areas, and Jamkhed's own hospital. Its programming also encompasses women's self-help groups, farmers' clubs, adolescent education and water and sanitation projects, and its community-empowerment approach has drawn international recognition, including from UNICEF, and has been introduced in health programs across many other countries.
