Vietnam Commune Health Station System

Vietnam's commune health stations form the base tier of the country's four-level public health system, serving as the closest point of primary care contact for most Vietnamese, with each station staffed by five to ten health workers sized to the commune's population. Commune health stations deliver a wide range of national programs including immunization, nutrition, tuberculosis control, family planning, HIV services, and environmental and food safety, and have increasingly taken on management of noncommunicable diseases, now handling up to 80 percent of people with mild or moderate noncommunicable conditions using nationally standardized, WHO-supported protocols.
