PolioPlus is a polio eradication program launched by Rotary International in 1985 to immunize all of the world's children against poliomyelitis. Rotarians have contributed several hundred million dollars in funding since the effort began, together with hundreds of thousands of volunteer hours, contributing to the immunization of more than two billion children worldwide. PolioPlus operates as a partner in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative alongside the World Health Organization, UNICEF and the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and is recognized by the United Nations as the key private-sector partner in the eradication effort.
