Text4baby

Text4baby is a free mobile health text messaging service that delivers pregnancy and early parenting information to expectant and new mothers in the United States, launched in February 2010 as the country's first free mobile health service of its kind. It was developed under the National Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition, a nonprofit founded in 1981 following a United States Surgeon General's conference on infant mortality, whose founding members included the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the March of Dimes, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Nurses Association, and the United States Public Health Service. The service won a Department of Health and Human Services HHS Innovates Award in 2010 and a Public Relations Society of America Silver Anvil Award in 2011, recognizing its approach of delivering timed health guidance directly to mobile phones rather than relying solely on clinic-based education. In May 2015 the coalition that had run Text4baby transferred its operations to Zero to Three, the National Center for Infants, Toddlers and Families, which has continued the service since.
