An Indonesian government maternity coverage program, launched in January 2011 by the Ministry of Health as Jaminan Persalinan, or Jampersal, to help the country accelerate progress toward the Millennium Development Goals target of reducing maternal mortality ahead of the 2015 deadline. Jampersal is directed at pregnant women who are not already covered by any other insurance scheme, covering antenatal care, delivery, postnatal care and family planning services at public and private health centers and hospitals that have signed an agreement with the local district health office, with the explicit aim of improving poor and uninsured women's access to facility-based maternal care.
