END Fund

A private nonprofit organization, whose name stands for Ending Neglected Diseases, founded in 2012 to combat the five most common neglected tropical diseases, which together account for up to 90 percent of the neglected tropical disease burden in Sub-Saharan Africa. The END Fund grew out of earlier funding for neglected tropical disease programs in Rwanda and Burundi that began in 2006 through the philanthropic organization Legatum, and it works by delivering treatments to children and adults, funding surgeries for disabilities caused by neglected tropical diseases, and training healthcare workers in remote communities to sustain that care. The organization channels philanthropic donations through three structured investment funds, the Flagship Fund, the Deworming Innovation Fund and the Reaching The Last Mile Fund, and counts the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Virgin Unite, Alwaleed Philanthropies and the Helmsley Charitable Trust among its notable partners; as of 2022 it reported having facilitated roughly 96,018 surgeries and delivered treatments valued at 2.34 billion dollars since its founding.
