A regional public health effort, coordinated by the World Health Organization, UNICEF and UNAIDS with technical support from the University of Melbourne's Nossal Institute for Global Health, to eliminate mother-to-child transmission of HIV, syphilis and hepatitis B across 21 countries and territories in Asia and the Pacific. Building on earlier country-level programs against each disease individually, the regional effort was formalized through a Regional Roadmap for the Elimination of Mother-to-Child Transmission of HIV, Syphilis and Hepatitis B in the Asia and Pacific Region covering 2024 to 2030, launched in April 2025, setting shared priorities of stronger policy leadership, universal antenatal screening and treatment access, integration with existing reproductive and child health services, community engagement and improved monitoring. Regional immunization programs had already cut hepatitis B prevalence among children born in the area from more than 8 percent in 1990 to under 1 percent among children born in 2012, and the roadmap aims to close remaining gaps in policy implementation, financing and access for marginalized populations that keep full triple elimination out of reach in several countries.
