UNAIDS 95-95-95 Targets

A set of global HIV testing and treatment targets set by UNAIDS as the successor to its earlier 90-90-90 targets, calling for 95 percent of all people living with HIV to know their status, 95 percent of those diagnosed to be receiving antiretroviral therapy, and 95 percent of those on treatment to have achieved viral suppression, with a horizon of 2025. The 95-95-95 targets keep the same fast-track testing-and-treatment logic that made 90-90-90 the most successful element of UNAIDS's earlier Fast-Track strategy, while raising the bar to the more ambitious 95 percent threshold at each stage and adding explicit attention to meeting women's HIV and sexual and reproductive health needs, to person-centred combination prevention, to an integrated approach to overall wellbeing, and to removing the social and legal barriers that keep people from using HIV services. UNAIDS and its partners track progress toward the targets both globally and within specific subpopulations of people living with HIV, reflecting how far testing and treatment coverage still varies between different groups even in countries approaching the targets overall.
