World NTD Day, also called World Neglected Tropical Diseases Day, is an annual global awareness day observed on January 30 dedicated to neglected tropical diseases. Its creation was announced on 19 November 2019 by Reem Al Hashimi on behalf of the government of the United Arab Emirates, and the first World NTD Day was observed on 30 January 2020. The date commemorates the 2012 London Declaration on Neglected Tropical Diseases, signed on the same day eight years earlier. The World Health Assembly formally recognized January 30 as World NTD Day in 2021.
