An Indonesian government strategy, known as Stranas Stunting, launched in 2017 with a commitment of 14.6 billion dollars over four years to converge priority nutrition and related services across 514 regions of the country. The strategy takes a whole-of-government approach spanning 22 ministries and addresses stunting through four linked factors, access to nutritious food, social practices around infant and child feeding, access to prevention and treatment health services, and environmental health covering drinking water and sanitation, aligning action across different levels of Indonesia's highly decentralized government. Delivering the strategy at the scale intended means reaching an estimated 24 million households in their first 1,000 days across some 75,000 villages nationwide, and a subsequent National Strategy to Accelerate Stunting Reduction covering 2018 to 2024 carried the approach forward with a five-pillar framework aimed at reducing stunting prevalence among children under five toward Indonesia's Sustainable Development Goal targets.
