Sri Lanka Thriposha Programme

Nutrition Program

The Thriposha Programme is Sri Lanka's national supplementary nutrition initiative, begun in 1973 as the country's first island-wide food supplementation effort after Medical Research Institute studies from 1950 to 1973 documented widespread deficiencies of animal protein, vitamins and minerals among the low-income population. Thriposha, meaning three nutrients, is a precooked cereal and legume-based food, today made mostly of maize and soya with added milk powder and vitamins and minerals, distributed free to pregnant and lactating mothers and to undernourished children between six and sixty months of age in lower-income households. Originally supplied using a wheat-and-soy blend from the United States government and managed early on by the CARE Sri Lanka office, the program has continued for close to fifty years under the government of Sri Lanka.

Delivers Practice

Entity-backed identity for the program-kind enum value this public health program already carries, resolved to a health practice by an explicit value-to-entity map (phase 3 bucket conversion, docs\design_entity_backed_browse_buckets_20260928.md). The program-kind fact itself stays on the program unchanged.
