Rwanda's national malaria control program, organized as the Malaria and Other Parasitic Diseases Division within the Rwanda Biomedical Center, a public health agency under the Ministry of Health. The division coordinates decentralized nationwide activities against malaria and other neglected tropical and parasitic diseases, including indoor residual spraying and insecticide resistance monitoring, procurement and distribution of insecticide-treated nets targeted especially at pregnant women and children under one year old, and data collection and surveillance used to guide the program's response. The division states a goal of ending malaria and neglected tropical diseases in Rwanda by 2030, and its work has been credited in published research with measurably reducing pediatric hospitalizations for malaria and febrile illness in areas where community-based components of the program have been implemented.
