Global Plan to End TB

A strategic funding and action plan unveiled by the Stop TB Partnership in Geneva on July 6, 2022, laying out the priority actions and financial resources needed to end tuberculosis as a public health threat by 2030. The Global Plan to End TB 2023-2030 calls for mobilizing nearly 250 billion dollars across the period, drawn from domestic government budgets, external donors, development banks, social health insurance, philanthropy, the private sector and other innovative financing sources, of which roughly 157 billion dollars is earmarked for TB prevention and care, about 53 billion dollars for vaccination once new vaccines become available, and a further 40 billion dollars to accelerate the development of new TB medicines, treatment regimens and diagnostics. The plan's priorities include early diagnosis and treatment, the development, approval and distribution of a new tuberculosis vaccine, and measures to keep emerging crises and conflicts from derailing national TB programs, framed explicitly as an effort to recapture the roughly twelve years of progress against tuberculosis that the Stop TB Partnership says the COVID-19 pandemic cost the world.
