The Zimbabwe National Tuberculosis Control Programme is the country's public health effort to prevent, diagnose and treat tuberculosis, issuing national guidelines for case management and coordinating the country's TB surveillance and treatment services. Among its recommendations, the programme calls for tuberculosis preventive treatment for children under five who are close contacts of a smear-positive TB case, part of a broader national response to a disease that has remained among the leading causes of death in Zimbabwe.
