UNICEF

The United Nations agency for children, established in 1946 in the aftermath of World War II as the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund, with a mandate to help children whose lives and futures were at risk regardless of what role their country had played in the war. It works in more than 190 countries and territories to protect the rights of every child, especially the most disadvantaged, across education, health, nutrition, child protection, and clean water and sanitation. UNICEF describes itself as the world's largest provider of vaccines and the operator of the world's largest humanitarian warehouse. Its archives are held at its New York headquarters, and its work is funded entirely through voluntary contributions.
