Vector control is any method to limit or eradicate the mammals, birds, insects or other arthropods, collectively called vectors, which transmit disease pathogens. The cited article states that the most frequent type of vector control is mosquito control using a variety of strategies, and that several of the neglected tropical diseases are spread by such vectors. In public health it is the practice behind programs that reduce the animals which carry infection between people, and programs of this kind, such as spraying, netting and larval source management campaigns, are grouped under this practice as a whole rather than under one named method.
