The second Bangladesh National Plan of Action for Nutrition, covering 2016 to 2025, was approved in August 2017 and developed by the Bangladesh National Nutrition Council, chaired by the Prime Minister, to mainstream nutrition into the country's development agenda. It sets out a multi-sectoral approach spanning health, education, agriculture, fisheries, livestock, environment, social protection, and disaster management, organized around social and behavior change communication, research to generate policy evidence, and capacity building, and coincided with stunting prevalence falling from 43 percent in 2007 to 31 percent in 2017-18.
