The BRAC WASH Programme has worked since 2006 to improve access to safe drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene facilities across rural Bangladesh, funded by the government of the Netherlands and run in two phases, WASH I from 2006 to 2011 and WASH II from 2011 to 2015, reaching 289 sub-districts. Focused on hygiene, sanitation, water, WASH in schools, and capacity building, the program brought hygienic household sanitation to more than 37 million people, including the country's ultra-poor, and its first phase alone delivered sanitary latrine coverage to 25.6 million people and hygiene education to 38.8 million.
