An Egyptian government mass-screening and treatment campaign, launched in late 2018 as 100 Million Seha, meaning 100 Million Healthy Lives, and enabled in part by roughly 250 million dollars of a larger World Bank loan. The initiative screened Egyptians aged 18 and older for hepatitis C and a set of noncommunicable diseases including diabetes, hypertension and obesity, working in three cross-sectional stages across all 27 of the country's governorates, and it grew into the largest medical screening campaign conducted anywhere up to that time. By July 2020 the campaign had screened more than 60 million people, and its hepatitis C component built directly on Egypt's earlier nationwide treatment scale-up, contributing to the country becoming the first in the world, in 2024, to achieve gold-tier certification from the World Health Organization for progress toward eliminating hepatitis C, after having previously carried one of the highest hepatitis C prevalence rates on earth.
