Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation

A nonprofit organization founded in 1988 as the Pediatric AIDS Foundation by Elizabeth Glaser, Susie Zeegen and Susan DeLaurentis, and renamed in Elizabeth Glaser's honor after her death in 1994. Glaser had contracted HIV through a contaminated blood transfusion and unknowingly passed the virus to her daughter Ariel, who died of AIDS complications in 1988, an experience that drove Glaser to become a prominent AIDS activist, including a widely noted speech at the 1992 Democratic National Convention on federal underfunding of AIDS research. The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, headquartered in Washington, D.C., is dedicated to preventing pediatric HIV infection and eliminating pediatric AIDS through research, advocacy, and prevention and treatment programs, operating in 12 countries and reporting revenues and expenses of 162 million dollars in 2023.
