The world's largest association of HIV and AIDS professionals, founded in 1988 and counting 11,600 members from more than 170 countries as of July 2020, including clinicians, people living with HIV, service providers and policy makers. The International AIDS Society uses its large membership base to drive global action against the epidemic and aims to reduce its worldwide impact, hosting major conferences including the biennial International AIDS Conference and the IAS Conference on HIV Science, and financially supporting the Journal of the International AIDS Society, an open-access medical publication.
