International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease

The International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease, known as The Union, is a global scientific membership organization headquartered in Paris that has worked against tuberculosis for more than a century. It was founded in Paris on 20 October 1920, when representatives of 31 countries pledged at the first post-war international conference on the disease to work together against it, and it traces its own antecedents to an 1867 meeting on the tuberculosis epidemic. The Union organizes today in three areas, tuberculosis, tobacco control, and lung and non-communicable disease, runs the World Conference on Lung Health, the largest annual meeting on lung health in the world, and publishes the International Journal of Tuberculosis and Lung Disease.
