The Malaria Elimination Initiative is a program of the Global Health Group at the University of California, San Francisco, established in October 2007 under the direction of Richard Feachem. It is dedicated to shrinking the malaria map by supporting elimination of malaria from the endemic margins inward, with its work concentrated in the Asia Pacific region and Southern Africa. Under its direction a global Malaria Elimination Group was formed to coordinate policy, science and practice on malaria elimination, meeting across multiple countries between 2008 and 2013. The initiative has been credited with making a significant contribution to malaria elimination policy and practice worldwide.
