Menstrual Hygiene Day is an annual global awareness day observed on May 28 to highlight the importance of good menstrual hygiene management. It was initiated in 2013 by the German-based nongovernmental organization WASH United and was observed for the first time in 2014. The day aims to break taboos and raise awareness surrounding menstruation, with particular focus on the challenges faced by women and girls in developing countries who lack access to menstrual hygiene information, facilities and products.
