CENSIDA, the Centro Nacional para la Prevencion y el Control del VIH y el SIDA, is Mexico's national HIV/AIDS program, created by presidential decree on August 24, 1988 as a decentralized agency under the Secretariat of Health. It coordinates prevention of sexual, blood-borne and perinatal HIV transmission, promotes medical care and psychological support for people living with HIV, and funds epidemiological and biomedical research into the disease, publishing Mexico's national HIV case registry.
