Papua New Guinea National Malaria Control Program

Papua New Guinea's National Malaria Control Program delivers the country's core malaria interventions, including long-lasting insecticidal mosquito nets, rapid diagnostic tests, artemisinin-based combination therapy and behavior-change communication campaigns. Papua New Guinea has long carried the highest malaria burden of any country outside sub-Saharan Africa, with more than 90 percent of its roughly 8 million people at risk of infection. Since 2004 the program has been supported by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, which has funded repeated nationwide bed-net distribution campaigns and the scale-up of diagnostic testing and treatment.
