The Regional Malaria Elimination Initiative is a results-based aid program launched in 2018 by the countries of Mesoamerica, together with Colombia and the Dominican Republic, and the Inter-American Development Bank, to accelerate progress toward eliminating malaria from the region. Running through 2025, it works to consolidate earlier gains against the disease and to prevent its reintroduction, with technical and operational support from the Pan American Health Organization, the Central American health-sector coordinating body COMISCA, the Mesoamerican Development and Integration Project, and the Clinton Health Access Initiative.
