Senegal's Programme Elargi de Vaccination (PEV) is the country's national expanded immunization program, relaunched in 2000 by the Ministry of Health and Social Action after a period of declining coverage and resurgent measles. With support from UNICEF, the GAVI Alliance, WHO and the Measles and Rubella Initiative, the PEV has added vaccines over time, including the pneumococcal and combined measles-rubella vaccines introduced in November 2013 and the hexavalent vaccine introduced more recently, and now targets eleven vaccine-preventable diseases.
