Sri Lanka's national malaria control and elimination program, which pursued nearly three decades of effort combining disease surveillance, vector control and treatment, including mobile malaria clinics, insecticide treated nets and outreach to displaced populations, despite the country's 26 year civil war. The campaign moved through a formally launched pre-elimination phase in 2008 and an elimination phase in 2011, interrupted local transmission of both major malaria parasite species by 2012, and recorded its last indigenous case that year. The World Health Organization certified Sri Lanka malaria free on September 5, 2016, citing the campaign's sustained combination of parasite focused surveillance and community engagement even in conflict affected areas.

Entity-backed identity for the program-kind enum value this public health program already carries, resolved to a health practice by an explicit value-to-entity map (phase 3 bucket conversion, docs\design_entity_backed_browse_buckets_20260928.md). The program-kind fact itself stays on the program unchanged.
