A Vietnamese government program to expand rural water supply and sanitation nationwide, established by the government in the late 1990s and implemented in three successive phases: an initial phase running through 2005, a second phase from 2006 to 2010, and a third phase, rolled out in 2013, covering the 2011 to 2015 period and organized around four areas of work, rural water supply and the environment, rural sanitation, capacity building with monitoring and evaluation, and information, education and communication. The National Target Program for Rural Water Supply and Sanitation, abbreviated NTP-RWSS, operates across all 63 of Vietnam's provinces, and its third phase was integrated into the country's broader National Target Program on New Rural Development running from 2010 to 2020, with each successive phase adjusting the program's approach based on lessons from the one before.
