Asia Pacific Leaders Malaria Alliance

The Asia Pacific Leaders Malaria Alliance, or APLMA, is an affiliation of Asian and Pacific heads of government formed to accelerate progress against malaria, aiming to eliminate the disease across the Asia Pacific region by 2030 and reduce the risk of other communicable diseases. The alliance was established at the East Asia Summit in Brunei in 2013, using the East Asia Summit process to galvanize heads of government, with its secretariat beginning operations in January 2014. APLMA supports and facilitates malaria elimination across the region by driving implementation of a Leaders' Malaria Elimination Roadmap, benchmarking country progress, coordinating regional action and brokering solutions to shared regional and national challenges, and it also uses malaria as an entry point for broader strategic dialogue among leaders and finance ministers on health systems and security.
