A nonprofit organization founded in 2007 by entrepreneur Chuck Slaughter and headquartered in Nairobi, with core community health operations in Uganda, Kenya and Burkina Faso. Living Goods supports community health workers through what it calls its DESC approach, combining digital enablement, equipment provision, ongoing supervision and fair compensation, so that health workers can reliably diagnose and treat common childhood illnesses, support pregnant women and provide family planning and other essential services door to door. The organization works directly with African governments to strengthen public health systems around this community health worker model, and as of 2021 it reported supporting more than 11,000 community health workers reaching approximately 8.5 million people across its operating countries.
