Mission Indradhanush

Mission Indradhanush is an immunization initiative of India's Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, launched on 25 December 2014 by Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda. It aims to raise full immunization coverage of children under two years old and pregnant women to ninety percent, targeting eight vaccine-preventable diseases including diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, polio, measles, tuberculosis, hepatitis B, and Haemophilus influenzae type B meningitis and pneumonia, with Japanese encephalitis and rotavirus vaccines added in some regions. The program concentrates first on the districts carrying the largest share of India's unvaccinated children, and by 2017 four completed phases had reached over 25 million children and nearly 7 million pregnant women, with an intensified follow-up phase launched in December 2019.
