The Programa de Atencion Medica Integral, known by its acronym PAMI and formally the Comprehensive Medical Attention Program, is a public health insurance government agency in Argentina managed by the country's Ministry of Health. PAMI was established by Decree 19,032 on May 13, 1971, under President Alejandro Lanusse on the initiative of Social Welfare Minister Francisco Manrique, and it has since operated as the principal public health coverage scheme for Argentina's retirees and pensioners.
