Scaling Up Nutrition Movement

A global movement launched in 2010 out of a growing recognition that malnutrition is a fundamental barrier to development that the international system had until then failed to address effectively. In April 2010, more than 100 leaders endorsed Scaling Up Nutrition: A Framework for Action on the margins of the World Bank-IMF Spring Meetings, and the first edition of the Road Map for Scaling Up Nutrition followed that September, launched by the United Nations Secretary-General and a group of global leaders at the UN General Assembly, building on renewed policy interest and on the 2008 Copenhagen Consensus finding that nutrition interventions rank among the most cost-effective of all development investments. The Scaling Up Nutrition Movement, commonly known as SUN, promotes a multisectoral approach that draws in multiple government ministries and agencies at once, on the premise that this collaborative model is the most effective and comprehensive way to address undernutrition at scale, and it has since inspired a new way of working collaboratively toward ending malnutrition in all its forms.
