Senegal's national malaria control and elimination program, run under the Ministry of Health and Social Action as the Programme National de Lutte contre le Paludisme, deploying the standard package of malaria interventions nationwide: insecticide-treated bed nets, indoor residual spraying, intermittent preventive treatment for pregnant women, rapid diagnostic testing and artemisinin-based combination therapies. The program has progressively shifted its strategic goal from malaria control toward elimination, working toward a target of elimination by 2025, and it introduced reactive and mass focal drug administration in northern Senegal from 2016 as a more targeted response in areas nearing zero transmission, later publishing updated national guidelines in 2021 for molecular LAMP diagnostic testing at district-level hospitals.
