The World Toilet Organization, founded on 19 November 2001, is a global nonprofit dedicated to improving toilet and sanitation conditions worldwide through education, training, and building local marketplace opportunities for sanitation advocacy. It established World Toilet Day and the World Toilet Summit in 2001 and the World Toilet College in 2005 to promote best practices in toilet design and sanitation technology, has grown to more than 235 member organizations across 58 countries, and was granted consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council in 2013.
