The Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) is an independent population health research institute at the University of Washington in Seattle, launched in 2007 with initial funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. IHME coordinates the Global Burden of Disease Study, which measures health loss from hundreds of diseases, injuries and risk factors across the world's countries and territories.
